Nantucket: Daffodil Festival

Nantucket Daffodil FestivalFrom early April to mid-May, more than three million daffodils will bloom on Nantucket Island . This blossoming is the focal point of the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Daffodil Festival (April 25-27, 2008.)

Originated by the late Jean MacAusland, summer resident and former publisher of Gourmet magazine, the weekend has grown into a full-scale celebration of winter’s thaw. The Annual Antique Car Parade is the Festival’s grand event and will feature more than 100 daffodil-bedecked antique cars.

After winding through town and across the island to the charming village of Siasconset (S’conset), participants will join residents and visitors for the Annual Daffodil Tailgate Picnic. Held on the lush lawns leading into the village, the picnic typically boasts fare ranging from elaborate gourmet cuisine served on fine china to box lunches and burgers. Quincy: The City of Presidents

John AdamsVisibility of Quincy was greatly enhanced with release of David McCullough's Pulitzer prize-winning book John Adams (2001); visitation to the National Park Service's Adams National Historical Park doubled thereafter. Now, HBO's launch of the movie John Adams in spring 2008 may make the Adams family crypt quiver! Produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the mini series stars Paul Giamatti as John Adams. The seven-hour segments will begin airing in March 2008, and will chronicle Adam's role as an attorney working behind the scenes to mobilize American independence through the support of wife, Abigail, and his often tumultuous relationship with friend and political colleague Thomas Jefferson. Adams later served as America's first vice president, second president and father of America's sixth president. Visit the National Park Service's Adams National Historical Park for more information about the Adams'.

Come! Experience the wide, wide world of history, charm and culture of the Massachusetts Cultural Coast! We welcome world-wide press visits with support in itinerary planning and implementation, accommodation, sights, attractions, press materials, and imagery.
